Important features of the New Age DVD Players
A standard CD-ROM can hold only 700 MB of data. Later, on CD with more storage space is built, but failed to attract the attention of buyers. Additional storage space was an increase from 50 to 60 MB, which was not much considering the application for end user data. Therefore, a new removable storage media is required to meet the needs of consumers. Technology DVD or digital video disc simply transformed the concept of complete data storage. Computers played all forms of DVD compatible player, but played players DVD only a selected format.
What is a DVD player? It's just the player or device that is capable of playing two different standards, DVD video and DVD audio. The player must be connected to the TV screen. Some devices come with mini LCD screens that are there as a partner more small TV set.
The new age DVD players won the race current DVD media. Blu-ray disc and HD player DVD are both trying to capture consumers with improved quality and storage space.
DVD players run on the standard video compression MPEGII. For a VCD compression standard, the codec used was MPEGI technology also known as MPEG. 1 minute video took 10 MB of space. The format MPEGII supports much higher bit rate to provide consistent quality for both video and audio.

A single standard channel DVD can store about 4.7 GB. However, a DVD can be dual-channel or two layers, the storage capacity can be up to 17 GB.
The ultimate in HD technology is the DVD released by Toshiba. Media Control GFK International reported that the total amount of storage media next generation sold in year 2007, 27 percent were HD DVD. Therefore, it is obvious that the new age of DVD players are rapidly becoming market leaders. The main problem in creating the next generation standard is the availability of two different media, Blu-Ray and HD DVD. Sony and Toshiba are trying to improve their products adapt to the norm for the next generation.
This constant competition among manufacturers enhanced DVD is creating a problem for the new age of players DVD. When the format is not finalized, is not very good prospect for a device, so that manufacturers are looking at ways to end sales the next step. Samsung, Sony, LG, Philips, Sharp and APEX are the most popular. All the PS2, Xbox, PSP, GBA, PSX and others, can also play DVDs. Sony Play Station 3 is also supporting its latest Blu-ray disc.
