I’m always tinkering with my home theater setup.

Many home theater owners will tell you the same thing. Your home setup is never quite complete. No matter how much equipment you have and how well you have it arranged, there will always be something to add. Why do we persist in this behavior? It’s simple; everything we add makes the whole experience better. Accessories are the things that make your home theater more like a movie theater. Most accessories are either electronic components that make the sound and video better, or non-technical items that focus on comfort and ambiance.

The concept of the home theater began with the introduction of large screen televisions. In those days, putting together a home theater basically involved rolling in one of those large, bulky projection TV systems. Now, a large screen TV by itself doesn’t make a home theater. You must add the right accessories to complete the entire package. Today’s home theaters go beyond a simple viewing of movies and sports on a big screen. Modern home theater owners are going for a total experience.

The trend in home theater systems has been to bring the movie theater into the home. Well maybe not the sticky floor and the random popcorn. What I’m talking about is the lighting, the décor, comfortable seating and remarkable sound that rivals reality.

Actually, enhancing the audio is one area where people spend a lot of time (and money). More speakers, better speakers, better speaker wires, speaker stands that isolate the speaker from the floor. The list is endless (at least you’ll never get to the end of it). But it makes sense. Why would you want to have an awe-inspiring picture that isn’t matched with a jaw-dropping soundtrack.

So, like I said in the beginning-adding accessories to your home theater is never complete. But every time I add something, the whole system gets a little bit better. And I believe that’s what makes the whole process so much fun.

Home theater is all about sight and sound, but have you ever considered your home theater acoustics? The concept of acoustics refers to how sound behaves inside your home theater. Do the walls reflect the sound or absorb it? Does the movie soundtrack shine with crystal clearness, or does it take on a dark, muddled tone? Every home theater enthusiast should be concerned about their home theater acoustics. Sadly, this tends to be one of the most overlooked aspects when home theaters are planned and created. But if you will pay attention to acoustics, you’ll be rewarded by soaring passages of music, yet with perfect voice intelligibility.

Why should you be paying attention to the acoustics of your home theater? Acoustic qualities are yet another piece of the puzzle in making your home theater’s ability to reproduce movie performances in a life-like way. Plus, as you spend more and more on technology to create the perfect sound, ignoring acoustics is like throwing that money away. Your system by produce flawless sound, but no one will realize it because the room is eating it up before it reaches the ear.

It’s actually surprising how few people even know about the need for good acoustics. This is especially true among people who have chosen to design their own media room. Expert home theater installers are well aware of how the room responds to sound. But home enthusiasts may lack the knowledge and experience to overcome a bad room design or to shape the sound for better listening.

One of the most exciting benefits of improving your home theater acoustics is the improvement in being able to understand dialogue. Sometimes soundtracks get caught up in reproducing the ambient experience of the scene, or in laying down a music bed that inspires or excites. Words can easily be lost. But it may be more about your acoustics than the soundtrack itself. Proper acoustics work to keep unwanted noises out and to improve the sounds that you want to hear. You will discover that you can understand every word of the script, without losing the excitement of the music and sounds that come with it.

If you’re serious about building a home theater that becomes the talk of your neighborhood, pay attention to acoustics. You’ll gain life-like realism and heart-thumping sound. And you will no longer need to turn on subtitles in your own language just to understand what the actors are saying.

Our home theater would not be complete without a Blu-ray DVD Disc Player. Blu-ray is highly recommended for anyone building a home theater as it quickly heightens the level of entertainment with amazing high definition images. This is because with Blu-ray, you are able to select the resolution that fits your HDTV.

Many people own Blu-ray players, but many do not utilize them to their full ability, which allows it to pump up the fun of any night in. With beautiful, crystal clear high definition images and amazing sound that can wow a crowd, a Blu-ray player can turn a home theater system into a home entertainment system. Two types of Blu-ray allow for flexibility in the design of the home theater system. External drives allow you to hook up the player to the system with USB cables and internal drives allow you to have a beautiful cord free setup as these player are set up inside your system.

Sony is the most widely known manufacturer of blu-ray players as they offer a wide range of pricing to allow anyone to purchase a blu-ray player regardless of budget. This allows anyone to build their own home theater system no matter how much money they’ve alloted for the project. Sony also offers a large product range so that you can choose the perfect blu-ray player for not only crystal clear sound and picture, but for how it physically looks, how it works, how it hooks up to the system, and the features it offers. There are many different qualities of blu-ray players made by Sony and much of the quality coincides with price, but it’s important to be informed so that you can get the best blu-ray player for your system. That way you can have the best system for your buck! Sony has it all when it comes to many electronics, especially their Blu-ray DVD Disc Players. Many manufacturers have started to follow suit and use Sony as a model of how their products are priced, how they work, and their quality, but many cannot touch the high bar that Sony has set for the industry.

Anyone building a home theater system is going to want one of the best home theater cabinets for their space. A home theater cabinet allows for the storage of everything for the home theater. There are literally hundreds of different styles of home theater cabinets available to allow buyers to find the very best home theater cabinet for their needs.

A home theater cabinet provides storage of your television, DVD player, sound system, and anything else that makes up your personal home theater system. It is important to make sure that the home theater cabinet you wish to buy has enough space to hold everything you need it to while being able to fit in your living room. Functionality is also important as many people like different components of their system to be in specific places. Luckily, most cabinets are made for larger systems and are engineered with functionality in mind.

Home theater cabinets often come with doors where the television can be kept safe when not in use. When the doors are open, they leave the television in full view of anyone so no-one’s view is obstructed by the cabinet doors. Many of these types of cabinets also come with a storage area to keep the audio equipment safe and secure. Some cabinets come without storage for the television. Although these other cabinets do not protect the television as well as a cabinet with doors, they are becoming increasingly popular, especially among those with flat panel televisions. The popularity is due to the aesthetics related to the more open cabinets.

When buying a cabinet, it is important to consider your budget. While money can be a large factor in the ultimate decision, it is important to choose a cabinet that is made of sturdy materials and is well built. Poorly constructed cabinets do not last as long; they can start looking shoddy very quickly. It is almost better to wait on buying the cabinet until one with better materials can be afforded versus buying a poorly made one and having to buy another one later because the original one broke.

A home theater cabinet can be the one factor that makes a home theater system look like its top of line. This is another reason why it’s a good idea to get a cabinet that fits your tastes. There are many affordable cabinets which allow for the purchase of a beautiful cabinet that is made of good materials and keeps the wallet full.

Purchasing a new home theater system can be fun and exciting, but it’s important to know ahead of time whether or not you can actually properly assemble the system. Many people get their system assembled and find that their system doesn’t look and sound as great as they’ve hoped. Home calibration solves this problem by allowing you to get the most from your new investment. By using home calibration, you can get the highest performance possible which heightens the experience of your home theater.

Home theater calibration helps identify technical problems that may be occurring in the system that could be prevent the hardware from working correctly. There are many different types of home theater calibration discs that can be used. It’s a good idea to choose the one that fits your project and technical ability.

Digital Video Essentials is a disc for those with good technical skills. It has many different features that over DVD calibrators do not, but aren’t for those that are new to the idea of assembling electronic systems. AVIA is another calibration disc available on the market. AVIA is much easier to use than Digital Video Essentials and comes with extensive reference materials, but doesn’t support as broad of a selection of resolutions as other calibrators. This calibration disc is great for those who are completely new to hooking up electronic systems. The Gold Line 5.1 Audio Toolkit DVD tests Surround EX systems and is perfect for debugging, tuning, and configuring audio systems.

To aid in calibration and to allow the system to sound its best, it’s important to make sure the speakers are in the correct place and that everything is properly hooked up. It’s easy to incorrectly hook something up as the directions can seem complicated with all the cords and attachments. Because of this, when something doesn’t look or sound right, it’s a good idea to look at how it is hooked up before doing anything else.

Calibration is an important part of assembling a home theater system. It is important to not only to assemble everything correctly, but also to purchase the right home calibration disc. Care should be taken in selecting the perfect disc for the job.

The perfect way to accent any home theater is with home theater curtains. No home theater is complete without curtains to conceal the screen when the home theater is not in use. The curtains also add a wonderful and authentic theater feel to the room when the home theater is in use.

Home theater curtains work by controlling the ambiance in the room. In movie theaters, the light is controlled so that the only light coming into the room is from the movie screen. Home theater curtains do the same thing which allows for an amazing experience when enjoying any movie in your own home. The darkness of the room allows viewers to see anything on the screen in full color and detail without any other light to compete with the splendor on the screen.

Another bonus to home theater curtains is that they help keep noises out. Nothing can take you out of the wonderful home theater ambiance like traffic on the street! Home theater curtains can dampen out this sound to allow anyone in the home theater to enjoy better resonance from the audio system. By purchasing thick curtains, not only can you keep out light and minor sounds, but you can also help muffle out any louder, piercing sounds. This allows you to keep the sounds of the outside world out of the home theater and keep the sounds of your home theater in.

There are many different types of home theater curtains available and they come in a variety of colors to appeal to everyone. Home theater curtains are a great addition to home theaters large and small. Without home theater curtains, it can be difficult to fully enjoy the investment of the system as outside sounds and lights can prove bothersome. Nothing takes the fun out of a home theater like a neighbor’s barking dog and the sun glaring on the screen! By investing in home theater curtains, not only will you be able to muffle out light and sound, but also get the theater feel that a home theater is all about!

It is important to choose a theme or design that you’ll enjoy for years so you do not have to constantly change the décor.

Those who have their home theater in its own room can recreate the look and feel of a cinema. Those with their home theater in the living room can choose furniture to match the design of the home theater system to create the best looking home theater for their space.

A great way to add some chic décor to any home theater is to put up movie posters. Whether you have a favorite actor or actress or have specific movies that are your favorites, movie posters can create the perfect feel for any home theater.

A receiver is the perfect addition to a home theater as they play a huge role in how the other equipment in the home theater performs. By owning a receiver, the owner of the home theater system is able to keep up with the changes in technology thus minimizing expenses by not having to constantly upgrade different components of the system. This is because a receiver’s basic job is to make sure each component works with other components regardless of age. As long as a component works with the receiver, it will work with the other components in the system!

A receiver can be compared to a manager at a place of employment. What is basically does is take in information from the satellite, cable, or antenna and pass it on to different components in the system. A receiver does everything from being just a simple channel hub to taking care of the audio and video from the television. A receiver also acts as a hub as nearly everything in the system will be plugged into the receiver. The installation and setup of a new receiver can be difficult, but step by step instructions are usually included to make the setup process much easier on the individual setting it up.

There are many different types of receivers on the market. The most popular type is a 7-channel receive which uses five of its channels to power the home theater. The remaining two channels can be used for surround sound or stereo speakers in the home theater. The owner of the home theater will have to make the decision as to whether he or she wants a 5.1-surround system or a 7.1-surround system. This is an important piece of information that is good to have when shopping around for different receivers. As there are many different types of receivers on the market, they come in a variety of price ranges. The receivers in the top price ranges will vary greatly from those in lower price ranges, but often offer more features. Those in lower price ranges offer those with less money to spend a way to enjoy their home theater in its full glory

There are many options when it comes to the screen used for a home theater system.
Projectors have a variety of features that must be considered when it comes to purchasing one. The amount of data projected onto the screen, called resolution on ordinary televisions, is important. A higher resolution projector will offer a much better picture than one with a lower resolution, so it’s a good idea to consider a high resolution home theater projector.
