Personal experiences of life in London PowerPoint Presenter
Having worked in London for the past five years, I had the opportunity to attend and present PowerPoint presentations on numerous occasions. As a self-taught user of this software my journey has been composed by a maximum of a few but mostly low. I still remember the days of the preparation of presentations on transparencies and use a range of colored pencils to add interest. When working in groups, the task of preparing the slides always seemed to fall to the person with the most beautiful handwriting. But those days are behind us and we need to address numerous technical complexities, such as selecting the most appropriate slide layout to reflect our message and the incorporation of multimedia to our presentations. I would like to share with you some personal experiences as a result of my lack of training in PowerPoint.
Always with the same format?
I must confess that tended to rely on the same format of confidence every time he made a new PowerPoint presentation. "Daddy's Ties" was an old favorite both myself and my colleagues. This meant that there was a limited variety of presentations offered at our weekly meetings. Although the content was varied and interesting maybe they were not carrying the best possible way.
Reading the slides?
As a shy and retiring, who tended to perceive opportunities to speak in public in less than a favorable light. Therefore, my PowerPoint slides became my safety net. All I meant was written on the slides, even if it meant using the smallest possible source. Needless to say, this was not a recipe for success. This meant that I was not keeping eye contact with the public because I always refer my slides to remind me what to say.
Installation problems?
Due to my lack of expertise, often encounter problems in setting my presentation. Using a slide projector was always a risky business because if I was not ready for me, I would come to a stop. Transportation of my presentations were interesting at times. I can still remember the horror I felt when I realized my presentation was too big to transport on a disk. Email was not an option and apparently was going to use a memory stick. A memory stick? Fortunately, those days are long gone, but it's the little details that make a difference.
As a resident in London, I had not been able to take full advantage of the opportunities available to improve this aspect of my presentation skills. Looking around, I can honestly say that I am not alone. My new recipe for success is to identify and address a weakness with the most appropriate means available. PowerPoint courses are widely available in London and if you have somehow found my experience may be worth considering.
